Tibetan Mastiff

Tibetan mastiff is also noted as Tibetan dog. It is a species of fierce canis familiaris originates on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Tibetan mastiff is also one of the most famous dogs in the world with resolute character and strong offensive.

Physical Characteristics of Tibetan Mastiff

Tibetan mastiff is of stout physique and outstanding strength. It is praised as an animal characterized by powerful but not rigid, awesome but not rude, agile but not reckless. The head of the Tibetan mastiff is always fused together with its thick neck hair. Its tail with thick long hair always frizzle crisp on the back. Tibetan mastiff is an omnivorous animal which likes meat and food with smelling of fish or mutton. It is resistant to pretty low temperature but could not stand high temperature.

The Tibetan mastiff is of developed sense of hearing, smell and touch, but it is dull in vision and taste sense. It has strong power of understanding and memorizing. It is always loyal to their master and aggressive to the strangers. The physical makeup of the Tibetan mastiff is characterized by muscularity and strong. It is sharp and vigorous in his movements. Tibetan mastiff originally lives in the regions with an altitude of 3000-5000 meters on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Living Environment of Tibetan Mastiff

Tibetan mastiff lives on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with low annual average temperature and obvious temperature difference between day and night. To resist the severe cold tempest in the wild, Tibetan mastiff has evolved double-deck hair in the past thousands years. Its first layer of long and hard hair could protect its second layer of soft hair from the snow. The thick fat under its soft hair also plays important role in the resistance of cold. Tibetan mastiff lives in different regions of Himalayas and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with an altitude of more than 3000 meters since 2000 years ago.
