The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Ci'en Monastery, about 4 kilometers away from the downtown of Xi'an. It was built in 625A.D. According to legends, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was designed and built by the first Buddhist abbot who was in charge of it – Xuan Zang (Tang Sanzang) after he came back from India, to enshrine and preserve Sanskrit Scripture, Buddha statues and Buddha relics. The Emperor Gaozhong and Emperor Taizhong in Tang Dynasty ever wrote stele for this pagoda. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the landmark building of Xi'an and the must-visit sight spot in your Tibet tour from Xi'an.

There is a musical fountain on the West Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda which is praised as the largest one in Asia. The performance time of musical fountain is 12:00 and 21:00 from Monday to Friday (there is no performance in the noon of Tuesday); 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 and 21:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Each show is about 20 minutes. The performance in winter will be 30 minutes earlier than summer.
