Tibet Adventure Tour – Selection of Tent

Update: Jan. 14th, 2013

Tents at Mt.Everst Base Camp

Tent plays important role in camping in the wild for tourists planning a Tibet adventure tour. Generally, the tent is not responsible in keeping warm, which is regarded as the basic effect of the sleeping bags. Instead, the main functions of the tent are wind-proof, water-proof, dust-proof, dew-proof and damp-proof. A suitable tent could always provide a relatively comfortable rest environment for tourists camping in the wild. In this article, Tibet Tour would like to provide some information regarding the selection of tent for tourists planning a Tibet adventure tour.

Selection of Tent – Portable

A portable tent is quite important for the backpackers making a Tibet adventure tour. The portable tent could be packed into the backpack after disassembling though it will spend certain time to settle it up. For tourists making a self-driving tour to Tibet, the tent effective in opening and packing up would be a good choice. It is easy to settle up and could be stored in the trunk conveniently.

Selection of Tent – Water-poof and Ventilate

The excellent tents are always characterized by water-proof and ventilate. Most of the tents enjoy a PU coating. PU is a kind of poly urethane high polymer organic which is characterized by frigostable. The thickness and coating technology of the tent greatly decided its water-proof property. Generally, the thickness of the PU coating of the tent is showed by millimeters to indicate the maximum height of water column that the tent can prevent in the static condition.

PU800 coating means that the tent would not be leaky under the attack of water column with a height of 800 millimeters in the static condition. Tourists making a Tibet adventure tour should note that a PU800 coating tent could only prevent the light to moderate rain; a PU1000-1200 coating tent could prevent the moderate to heavy rain while a PU1500 coating tent could deal with more severe rainy environment.

As we all known, the ventilate property of the tent is bidirectional. Tourists making a Tibet adventure tour need a tent which could proof the rain outside the tent and export the vapor produced by people in the tent. Some tents are not good enough for the moisture would permeate into the tent while there is a heavy humidity outside the tent.

Selection of Tent – Staypole with Excellent Intensity and Resilience Force

Tourists planning to join the Tibet adventure tours are strongly suggested to choose the tent with good staypole which has excellent intensity and resilience force. The experienced explorers might find that the carbon staypole is much better than aluminum alloy staypole and the glass fiber staypole. The wind-proof property of the tent is closely related to the quality of the staypole and the number of staypoles. Generally, the tent with more staypoles could resistant stronger wind.

Selection of Tent – Durable Bottom

Tourists making a Tibet adventure tour should also pay special attention to the bottom of the tent while choosing the tent. Mostly, the bottom of the tent is required to be water-proof and durable. The poly ethylene is the most commonly used material for the bottom of the tent. Tourists are highly advised to clean out the gravels, grass roots or twigs which might easily scratch the bottom of the tent before settling your tent.
