For some high plateau visitors, the precaution for high altitude sickness is key points for life. It is necessary to know some key points about high altitude sickness precaution and simple first aid knowledge.

Notes for High Altitude Sickness - Physical Examination

It is necessary to do physical examination before coming into high plateau. Visitors who are with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, variety of respiratory insufficiency, structural heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, hypertension, disease of digestive system, neurological and psychiatric diseases, serious chronic diseases and some other diseases are not suitable for high plateau tour. If there is no way to ensure the security, you are suggested to take a poor oxygen test.

Notes for High Altitude Sickness - Physical and Psychological Preparation

Psychological Preparation: You should eliminate the scare to high plateau. You are suggested to know more about the high plateau condition and features and health care knowledge from books or experienced tourists, to enhance your confidence.

You are suggested to do some adaptive training, like mountaineering, long distance running, and load walking and so on, to increase vital capacity and adaptive capacity.

It will be better to know more about the local climate features, bring enough clothes, and pay more attention to keep warm and avoid acute upper respiratory tract infection

The adaptive training is for high altitude sickness precaution, there are some tips should be noted after coming into high altitude sickness.

1.Keep in good mood, and eliminate the scare to high altitude sickness. You are suggested to avoid too nervous and to let your body can fully rest.

2.You should avoid getting cold. As the climate in high plateau is very cold, and temperature difference at daytime and night are very obvious. After getting cold, the body may easily get respiratory tract infection and cause acute high altitude sickness.

3. You should avoid vigorous activity and heavy physical labor. You should slowly climb up higher places, which will be helpful for adapting to high altitude condition.

4.About diet, you are suggested to eat more foods with high glucose and quality protein which is good for overcoming poor oxygen condition.

5.You are suggested not to smoke, drink alcohol, which will decrease the oxygen consumption.

6.It will be better to take three or five days' health products for high altitude sickness after coming into Tibet.
