Tibetan Medicine – Introduction of Cordyceps Sinensis

Cordyceps sinensis is a kind of well-known Tibetan medicine. It is listed as three great tonics with natural ginseng and pilose antler. The cordyceps sinensis is quiet mild, and can be eat in four seasons. It is suitable for the old, young, sick and weak. It is more valuable than other tonics.

Tibetan Medicine – Growth of Cordyceps Sinensis

The growth of cordyceps sinensis may be mysterious to many people. In fact, the cordyceps sinensis is the combination of a kind of sect and fungus. The sect of the cordyceps sinensis is the larva of swift moth, while the fungus is the cordyceps sinensis fungus. In the midsummer, snow on the meadow where altitude is over than 3800 meters starts melting, and the small swift moths left their ovum on the floral leaves. Then, the ovum of moths gradually becomes larva and burrows deep into the moisture and loose soil to absorb the nutrients of the plants' roots. When come across the larva, the globose ascospore will penetrates into it, to absorb its nutrients and sprout out hypha.

The infected larva will gradually creep to the place which is about 2cm or 3cm to ground surface, and die. Although the larva died, the funguses in it are growing, until filling the whole larva. Until the end of spring and early of summer, the head of the larva will grow out purple grass which is about 2cm to 5cm high. That's the growing process of the cordyceps sinensis. At that time, the cordyceps sinensis is the most plump and with most effective contents. Hence, it is the best season to pick the cordyceps sinensis.

Tibetan Medicine – Picking of Cordyceps Sinensis

The period from April to May in every year, when snow dissolves, is the best time to pick cordyceps sinensis. At that time, the sprout of the cordyceps sinensis is less than one inch. After this period, the sprout will die. The sign of cordyceps sinensis will disappear among growing weeds. When pick the cordyceps sinensis, remove the yellow wax cover and other impurity on it. Then, cool it or dry it. The traditional package method is to bind six or eight cordyceps sinensis with a red string.

Tibetan Medicine – Curative Effect of Cordyceps Sinensis

Based on scientific analysis, there are Vitamin B12, fat, protein and some other nutrients in the cordyceps sinensis. The cordyceps sinensis is with sweet and gentle quality. It is famous tonic. It has obvious curative effect on deficiency of lung qi, deficiency of both the lung and kidney, hemoptysis caused by tuberculosis, cough, short breath, night sweet and ache and weak of waist and knee.
