Shigatse Tour - Shigatse Geographic Environment

Shigatse

Shigatse originally named from "the fertile manor " in Tibetan language. It is located at the confluence of Yarlung Zangbo River and Nianchu River in southern Tibet, which has been the center of politic, religion and culture of Tsang (west-central Tibet) of Tibet, as well as the preaching place of Panchens. It covers an area of 3875 square kilometers and is about 3836 meters above the sea level.
