Lake Namtso

Located between Damxung County (Lhasa) and Baigion County (Nagqu Prefecture), Lake Namtso is about 240 kilometers away from the main peak of Nyainqentanglha Mountains. Lake Namtso contains 76.8 billion cubic meters of water. It is the highest large lake in the world. Namtso means Sky Lake in Tibetan. The water is crystal clear.

Jokhang Temple

Jokhang Temple is a Tibetan Buddhism monastery. It has been a must-go site for tourists come to Lhasa for its long history and amazing cultural relics.It is said that Jokhang Temple was built to worship the Statue of 8-year Sakyamuni (the founder of Buddhism). This statue was brought to Lhasa by Princess Bhrikuti of Nepal, Songtsen Gambo's bride. It covers an area of 25100 square meters. The Statue of 12-year Sakyamuni brought to Lhasa by Princess Wencheng of Chinese Tang Dynasty is worshiped in the monastery while the Statue of 8-year Sakyamuni was moved to Ramoche Monastery.

Mt. Everest

Located at the border of China and Nepal, Mt. Everest is the main peak of Himalayas with an altitude of 8844.43 meters above the sea level, being the highest peak in the world. The first successful conquer of Mount Everest was accomplished by New Zealanders, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on 29 May 1953. Both men refused to tell to the world who actually reached the summit first, but Tenzing revealed a few years later that Hillary had put his foot on the summit first. Many adventurers come to Mt. Everest to make an exploration and challenge themselves.

Tashilhunpo Monastery

Tashilhunpo Monastery is a monastery of Gelug Sect in Tibetan Buddhism. Tashilhunpo means fortune and happiness in Tibet. It is located at the slope of Nyima Mountain on the outskirts of Shigatse and it is the largest monastery in Shigatse Prefecture. Gandain Monastery, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery and Tashilhunpo Monastery were called the "Four Great Monasteries of Gelug Sect".
