Acute Mountain Sickness (High Altitude Sickness) is a natural physical reaction caused by the lower oxygen and bad air pressure at high places such as Tibet. Acute Mountain Sickness usually occurs in altitude of about 2700m.

If it is your first time to ascend to the high plateau such as Tibet tour, you will probably suffer the Acute Mountain Sickness.

The signs and symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness mainly include bad headache, dizziness, chest distress, breathe hard, insomnia, slow response, somnolence and hardly to sleep at night.

What Acute Mountain Sickness is

Acute Mountain Sickness

Acute Mountain Sickness is usually happened in 1-2 day arrival at plateau. The signs and symptoms are bad headache, exhausted, dizziness, insomnia, nausea and vomiting.

High altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE)

It is 40% of death rate of people who suffer HAPE without any treatments. The signs and symptoms of HAPE is Dyspnea, cough, weakness, feel blocked in chest, pale and fast heart rate.

High altitude cerebral oedema (HACE)

It is 14% of death rate of people who suffer HACE without any treatments. People could not walk straightly and get some psychological problems.

Chronic high altitude sickness

It refers to people start maladjusted again after the first acclimatization. People will feel tired, headache and other signs and symptoms.

Notes of Acute Mountain Sickness

1.Do not ascend to a high place at a time.

2.Make you warm at every moment

3.Do not drink alcohol and take some cigarettes

4.Have more meals a day but less food at each

5.Low-salt diet

6.High Carbohydrate food

7.Please do not do much exercise

8.You have to assure you have plenty sleep

9.Rich-vitamin food such as vegetables, fruit

10.Please make yourself calm down at every moment, as excitement will take much oxygen and power away.

11. Drink enough water depends on the plenty and urine volume and if it is limpid.

12.Do not take some pain-killer on your own, as the pain could be much serious later.

13.And remember do not uptake oxygen until you are told you have to.
