The high altitude sickness refers to a series of natural physiological response which caused by the health adapting to the low pressure, poor oxygen, and dry air condition after reaching a certain altitude.

The symptoms of high altitude sickness almost appear at the place higher than 2700 meters. The high altitude sickness will be more easily occur if you quickly (like taking plane) reach the place where higher than 3000 meters.

The high altitude sickness almost appears in the first 6 to 12 hours after reaching high plateau. For a small part people, the high altitude sickness will occur in the first 1 to 3 days. And the physiological response will come back to normal in 3 o 7 days. If the condition is very serious, it may need 2 weeks to recover to normal.

Guide of High Altitude Sickness – Symptoms of High Altitude Sickness

The most common symptoms of high altitude sickness includes chest distress, short breath, dry cough, dizzy, asthenia, asitia, vomit , hypersomnia, insomnia, low fever and so on. Most people will appear purple lips and fingernails for lacking of oxygen. Some people will appear pachylosis, parched lips, nosebleed and some other symptoms due to dry air. Serious people will appear hypoesthesia, flutter, hyperpragia, hypomnesis, abnormal hearing, sight, olfaction and gestation, hallucination and so on. Some people may appear edema, shock, convulsion and some other symptoms.

For different people, the symptoms and degree of high altitude sickness are different. Some people only appear one or minority symptoms, while some others will appear several symptoms. Some people may appear high altitude sickness very easily, while some almost will not appear high altitude sickness. Some sensitive people will appear light high altitude sickness at the place higher than 1700 meters, while some one only appear light high altitude sickness after climbing up 6000 meters high mountains. So, the symptoms of high altitude sickness for different people are greatly different.
