D16 Mentu Village – K1256 Unnamed Mountain Pass – K1284 Unnamed Mountain Pass – Tarqyen Village Crossing

It is approximately 60 kilometers far from Mentu Village to Tarqyen Village Crossing. The mileage is calculated based on the number which written on the milestone on the way. The scenery would be wonderful since we get into the southern Tibet region.

On both sides of the road, there are all snow mountains. There are two long slopes from Mentu Village to K1256 Unnamed Mountain Pass, K1256 unnamed mountain pass is the first top today. You may have a chance to enjoy the headstream of Shangquan River halfway. On the way to K1284 unnamed mountain pass, there is a crossing of Lhanag-tso Lake. Tarqyen Village crossing is located at the foot of the holy mountain – Mt. Kailash. There are lots of pilgrims from home and abroad in the small village. They come here from their hometown and show their devout respect to the Buddha. You may spend 2 days to go to Kora (round Mount Kailash).

You may overnight in the hostels in the village. It costs about 100 RMB per person.

D17 Tarqyen Village Crossing – Baga – Hor Village

Today is relatively relaxing. It is approximately 46 kilometers far from Tarqyen Village Crossing. You may adapt yourself slowly after rounding the mountain yesterday.

Baga is about 80 kilometers far from Tarqyen Village Crossing. It is asphalt road. There is a checkpoint in Baga and a crossing lead to Pulan County. You also have a chance to enjoy Mapam Yumco Lake (Lake Manasarovar) from Baga. Mapam Yumco Lake (Lake Manasarovar) lies between Mt. Kailash and Namnani Peak (one of the peaks of the Himalaya Mountain Range). It is the largest fresh water of China and regarded as the Sacred Lake by Tibetans.

Hor Village is available about 20 kilometers far from the Mapam Yunco Lake area. The scenery along this way is comfortable and wonderful.

You may overnight in Chengdu Hotel or the hostel in Hor Village.

D18 Hor Village – Mapam Yunco Lake – Yare Village Crossing – Konzhutso Mountain Pass – Konzhutso Lakeside – Mayomula Mountain Pass (5211m) – Mayo Bridge Checkpoint

It is approximately 113 kilometers far from Hor Village to Mayo Bridge Checkpoint. It is asphalt road and the road condition is fine. You will ride along a long slope after leaving Hor Village and reach Yare Village Crossing. You may buy something in the small store in this village. Konzhutso Lake is a salt water lake so that it is not good for camping here. There are some rare plateau fishes in Konzhutso Lake.

On the way to Mayomula Mountain Pass, there are many abrupt slopes. And you may find some animals' carcasses along the way. Mayo Bridge Checkpoint is the strictest checkpoint after passing the checkpoint in Lion Spring River.
