Johkang Temple

Jokhang Temple is one of the important cultural sites under the state protection in the country. It is the world-known largest temple in Tibet. It was built in the mid-seventh century by Songtsen Gampo for the Tang Princess Wen Cheng and Nepalese Princess Bhrikuti. In unique architectural styles, the building is grandeur and magnificent.

Ramoche Temple

Ramoche Temple situated 500 meters away from the north part of Jokhang Temple. It was built at the same time when Jokhang temple built.

When Princess Wen Cheng came into Tibet with Buddhism culture and Buddhism books, she built the Ramoche Temple. The 12-year-old Shakyamuni statue was put in the temple.

Drepung Monastery

Drepung Monastery is one of the monasteries of Yellow Sect, which was built in 1416. It is the largest monastery in Tibet. It is mainly composed of several parts including Coqen Hall and four gewatshang. It has a floor space of more than 200,000 square meters.

Sera Monastery

Sera Monastery is one of the main monasteries of Gelug Sect. It was built in 1419 with large numbers of monks and followers.

Sera Monastery is famous for its discussing Buddhism in Tibet, which attract tourist from home and abroad. Tibet overland tour includes Sera Monastery, thus tourists are possible to watch the discussing Buddhism in Tibet.

Ganden Monastery

Ganden Monastery is 57 meters away from Lhasa City. It is one of the most popular monasteries in Tibet with Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery together. It is one of the monasteries of Gelug Sect.

Tashilhunpo Monastery

Tashilhunpo Monastery situated in Shigatse. In Tibet overland tour, it is almost included in each Tibet tour. It is famous for its Buddhism exhibition festival.

Tshuphu Monastery

Tshuphu Monastery situated at the upper reaches of Tshuphu River, which is 60 kilometers away from the west part of Lhasa City. It is regarded as the main monastery of Kagyu Sect in Tibet. The large construction of Tshurphu Monastery centers on the assembly hall, including the shrines and chapels, and libraries for the important Buddhism classics and scriptures, institute of Buddhism studies and the residence of the Buddhists.

Reting Monastery

Reting Monastery is built in 1057 by the founder of Kadam Sect. It has more than 900 year's history. Thus it is regarded as the first monastery of Kadam Sect.

The name of Reting means keep pure spirit and heart in Tibetan language.

Rongbuk Monastery

Rongbuk Monastery situated near the Mt. Everest Base Camp with more than 5800 meters high. Due to the location and geography, the temperature in Rongbuk Monastery is very low. It is also regarded as one of the best places with wonderful sightseeing because of the highest elevation in the world.

Palkhor Monastery

Palhkor Monastery situated since 15th century. It is famous because it is a kind of monastery of Sakya Sect, Kadam Sect and Gelug's.

Palhkor Monastery is about 230 kilometers away from south part of Lhasa and about 100 kilometers away from east part of Shigatse.
