Tourists can make a Tibet group tour by train. The train entering into Tibet is not as usual as trains in other regions. It helps offers oxygen for passengers to reduce altitude sickness.
Trains entering into Tibet have the most advanced train carriage in China at present. There are two oxygen systems in the train carriage. All trains entering into Tibet are completely shut-off to resist the strong sand wind in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the intense ultraviolet rays and other harsh natural environment. The toilet adopt vacuum toilet stool and there are specialist equipment to recycle trashes and waste water. Tight lock couplers are applied for at the joints between the train carriages, thus it would not get an air leak. In order to cope with the oxygen-deficient environment, the oxygen concentration, the temperature and the pressure can be kept in a balance in the train carriages.
The configurations of the trains are almost the same with those in the planes. There are two oxygen systems. One is of diffuse type, which provides oxygen according to the mixed air-conditioning system. The oxygen content of every train carriage remains at 23 percent. Passengers would feel like entering into a “oxygen bar”. Another is an independent oxygen system. If passengers need more oxygen, they can breathe oxygen directly by wearing the oxygen marks. The altitude sickness and discomfort can be reduced when in the train.
In addition, the interior decoration is fascinated and emerges the cultures of Qinghai-Tibet areas. Comfortable dining rooms and washing rooms are set up. There are also medical staffs, medical instruments and medicines provided on the train. All these make up to a life-support system for passengers.
