Tibet Festival – Worshipping Festival

Local Tibetans would celebrate the Worshipping Festival on June 4th according to the Tibetan calendar. It is said Sakyamuni firstly dictated his Buddhism scripture on June 4th. On this day, local Tibetans would worship the Buddha in the monasteries, chanting the Buddhism scriptures and light up the lanterns. Worshipping Festival is an unalloyed religious festival. Legend of Worshipping Festival

There is a legend related to Tibetan Worshipping Festival goes that the fairy maiden would take a sight of the world on the top of the mountains on June 4th according to Tibetan calendar. Tibetans hold that it is of great significance to make a circumambulation around the holy mountains. Both the fairy maiden and Buddha would bless you if you show your devout respect to them.

Tibetan children like the Worshipping Festival very much. On that day, the children could dress on their best costumes and eat delicious food. The mother would ask for blessing from the Buddha while presenting the offerings religiously. It seems that the Buddha would give all the blessings to the children.

Traditional Activities of Worshipping Festival

The local Tibetans would make a circumambulation around the holy mountain follow the tradition in the morning of the Worshipping Festival. There are several taboos during the circumambulation. The worshippers should believe the Fairy and Buddha devoutly and be ready to help others. They couldn't sigh, call names or pick the flowers during the circumambulation.

On the Worshipping Day, all the worshippers would collect in front of the offering stage at the top of the mountain. Some of them would hang up the prayer flags while others setting the offerings. After that, they would go down hill while chanting the Buddhism scriptures.
