How to Apply Tibet Travel Permit

Update: Aug. 31st, 2012

Tibet Travel Permit

Foreigners who want to have a Tibet tour must handle the Tibet Travel Permit.

It is set by National Tourism Bureau that foreign tourists, Taiwan tourists and Overseas Chinese (except Hong Kong, Macao residents holding China SAR passport or Home Return Permit) are prohibited to tour in Tibet independently. No matter how many visitors are there, they must be organized and planed by professional Tibet tour operators to have Tibet tour.

All visitors who are holding foreign passport or MTP must first confirm the itinerary, time and specific way to Lhasa. Visitors are suggested to send the scanned copy of the first page of passport and Chinese Visa to travel agency (must ensure that every word on the scanned copy is very clear). When the Tibet Travel Permit is processed, the itinerary you chosen must be approved. And you must carry out your Tibet tour based on the approved itinerary.

If you are holding the Chinese F visa or China Residence Permit in China, you are required to provide your working certificate issued by your company/organization.
