1. When do I need to apply for the Tibet travel Permit?

You need to provide us your documents at least 15days prior to your entry date, as we need to submit your accurate information and documents to Tibet Travel Bureau 15 days before your entry date.

2. Can I go anywhere in Tibet with Tibet Travel Permit?

No, Tibet Travel Permit (or TTB) only endorses you to enter Tibet and travel many places in Tibet except closed areas and military sensitive areas.

3. Planning to go Tsedang in Shannan prefecture, do I need to apply for Aliens' Travel Permit?

Tsedang in Shannan prefecture is one of the “closed areas” in Tibet, so you need apply for an Aliens' Travel Permit. The "closed" areas in Tibet Autonomous Region mainly include Qamdo, Tengchen and Riwoche in Qamdo Prefecture, Baksumtso Lake, Bomi and Ranwu Lake in Nyingchi Prefecture, Mt. Everest, Rongbuk Monastery, Sakya Monastery, Palkhor Monastery and Zham Town in Shigatse Prefecture, Tsedang, Samye Monastery, Tombs of Tibetan Kings, Yumbu Lakhang and Trundruk Monastery in Shannan Prefecture, Lake Manasarovar (Mapam Yumco) and Rutog in Ngari Prefecture.

4. Planning to go to Mt. Everest, do I need to apply for a Military Allowance?

You need to apply for a Military Allowance when planning a tour to Mt. Everest as it is one of the military sensitive areas in Tibet. The military sensitive areas include Mt. Everest, Zham Town, Medog County, Yadong County and Ngari, etc.

5. When do I need to apply for a Aliens' Travel Permit and Military Allowance?

After entering Tibet, your tour guide will apply Aliens' Travel Permit and Military Allowance for you. All you have to do is to offer accurate information and documents required.
