Xian-Tibet Tour

Xian is an old age city with profound history of China. Tourists can take the flight to Lhasa from Xian, or take the train to Lhasa from Xian, too.

Xian-Chengdu

After breakfast, you will tour the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Hangyang Tomb before your guide escorts you to the airport your flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival in Chengdu airport, transfer to hotel, the rest of the day is yours relax

Big Wild Goose Pagoda: regarded by many as a symbol of the city, the pagoda was built in 652 A.D in Tang Dynasty to house the sutras brought back from India by the famous monk Xuan-zang.

The Hanyang Tombs: the tombs of Emperor Jing and his wife in Han Dynasty, so far archaeologists have found more than 80 burial pits and 5000 subordinate tombs under the ground of this mausoleum.

Chengdu-Lhasa

Transfer to airport for your flight to Lhasa. Upon your arrival at Gonggar airport, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to the hotel in Lhasa city (2-hour drive). After checking in the hotel, rest in the afternoon to get adapted to the high altitude.

Lhasa: Potala Palace – Jokhang Temple – Barkhor Street

Potala Palace: We will visit the highest ancient castle style architectural complex above the sea level – Potala Palace (1hour). It was the residence of the Tibetan Dalai Lamas, as well as the political, educational and religious center of Tibet. It was built in the 7th century during the reign of Songtsen Gampo. Potala Palace is composed of the White Palace and the Red Palace.Jokhang Tempe: In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the Jokhang Temple which was widely accepted as the spiritual center of Tibet. The precious Statue of 12-year Sakyamuni (the founder of Buddhism) brought to Tibet by Princess of Chinese Tang Dynasty and the statues of some eminent Buddhists are enshrined in the monastery. There are also exquisite murals which present the history and culture of Tibet collected in the monastery.

Then we will take a ramble at Barkhor Street which around the Jokhang Temple. There we could experience the traditional culture and daily life of Tibetan.

Lhasa Drepung Monastery – Sera Monastery – Norbu Lingka

Drepung Monastery: We will make a visit to Drepung Monastery in the morning. Drepung Monastery is one of the three great monasteries of Gelug Sect (a branch of Tibetan Buddhism). It is the largest monastery in the world. There were more than 10000 Buddhists in the monastery at its heyday. Sera Monastery: We will tour to Sera Monastery – one of the three great monasteries in Lhasa. It is noted for its Buddhism scripture debating. Sera Monastery was constructed by one of the most famous disciples of Master Tsongkhapa in 1419. Then we will visit Tibet Museum.

Norbu Lingka: Then we will make a visit to Norbu Lingka – the Summer Palace of Dalai Lamas. It was constructed in 1740s and covers an area of 0.36 square meters after more than 200 years expansion. It is the largest artificial garden in Tibet with beautiful landscapes and rich historical relics.
