Only the non-direct flight to Lhasa from Guangzhou and Nanjing are available. Mostly, these flights will take a stop at Chongqing, Chengdu, Lanzhou or XiAn. Though tourists have to spend hours on the way, taking flight to Tibet could save visitors a lost of time compared to taking the train.

Currently, 7 domestic cities in mainland China opened the direct train to Lhasa, including Beijing, Shanghai. Chengdu, Chongqing, Lanzhou, Xining and Guangzhou.
