Medog is not very famous. It is the only county without highway in China. So, it becomes the paradise for trekking. The Medog in Tibetan Buddhism means "hidden lotus". Tibet Trekking Tours – Tour in Shannan

In the Serxiang of Lhozhag County, Shannan, there are famous Saika Gutuo Monastery, which is the original monastery of Kagyu Sect and the nine floors high tower which was built by Mila Riba. It is said that a famous translator came to Tibet, and Mila Riba want to study from him. The translator wanted to test him, and asked him to build a nine floors high tower for his son. After several years, Mila Riba built the tower by himself. His piety to Buddhism moved the translator. And the translator decided to teach him. In the Shannan area, except the Lhozhag County, there is another place which is suitable for trekking. That is the Baimalingtso. The Baimalingtso is located on the mountain foot of Kula Gangri Holy Mountain. It is a famous lake in Shannan, except its beautiful scenery, it is also a magic lake. If you are lucky enough, you can see your last life and present life through the lake.

This tour is not very hard. The latitude of it is relatively low, and scenery along the way is very beautiful. You also can rent horses in nearby villages.

In another county of Lhozhag County – Lakang Town, there is another Tibet trekking tour. That is trekking at Karjiu Monastery.

The Karjiu Monastery is one of preserved Ningma Sect monastery in Tibet. It was built on a small hill. In the morning, the fog will cover the whole monastery, looks very beautiful. The Lakang Valley, on the behind of Karjiu Monastery, is suitable for trekking. At there, weather is fine, and air is fresh. In this tour, it is easy to go down the mountain, while it is hard to climb up the mountain. Of course, there are circumambulates which were built for pilgrimages, which are suspending stairs in right angle.
