Tibet Travel Tips 2014 - Equipments

Tourists making a Tibet tour and planning to choose the classic route instead of the trekking routes don't need to prepare a lot of equipments. The highway to most scenic spots in Tibet had been opened to traffic, and tourists planning to visit those spots don't need to prepare for long time trekking. The ordinary equipments, including the sunglasses, sun bonnet, sun-blocking cream and lipstick are necessary for all tourists planning to visit Tibet.

Tourists planning to do some trekking activities are sincerely suggested to prepare some professional equipments. A wind-proof coat could protect you from the strong wind at the mountain passes. Moisture-proof pat and sleeping bag could protect you from the low temperature in the night. A pair of comfortable mountaineering boots could make tourists' trekking activities easier. In addition, tourists trekking to the remote rare populated regions should also prepare a first-aie kit to cope with any unexpected accident.

Tibet Travel Tips 2014 - Permits

Except for the Tibet Travel Permit, foreign visitors planning to visit some border regions or controlled regions are required to apply for the Aliens' Permit and Military Permit. Tourists visiting Ngari Prefecture, Dingri County, Zhangmu Town, Medog County, Yadong County and some other remote counties are required to apply for the above permits. This year, all Tibet travel agencies are required to submit the application documents to Tibet Tourism Bureau at least 15 days in advance. Therefore, tourists are sincerely suggested to send us the necessary documents about 20 days in advance. Generally, we will send the original copy of the Tibet Travel Permit to tourists' hotel in the transit city before you board on the plane to Lhasa. For tourists joining the Tibet train tours, we would send you the scanned copy of your Tibet Travel Permit.

Tibet Travel Tips 2014 - Accommodation

The accommodation condition in most regions in Tibet has been greatly improved in recent years. There are different levels of hotels in the well developed towns and cities, such as Lhasa, Shigatse and Nyingchi. But the accommodation condition in the relatively lagged regions is pretty poor. Tourists planning to making a Tibet trip along the Xinjinag-Tibet Highway would find that there are rare standard hotels along this highway and tourists could only stay overnight in the guesthouses with limited condition.

Tibet Travel Tips 2014 - Trip Cost

The cost for a Tibet trip varies according to the choosing of the transportation method, accommodation and travel routes. There is no doubt that the trip cost in the high season is higher than that in the shoulder season and low season. Tourists choosing the same tour route would spend less money for this trip if you choose to enter into Tibet by train instead of the flights in the high season. Besides, the cost for the classic routes is much lower than the special routes (such as the trekking routes) for the special routes always involve some far away region, which means tourists have to spend more in the vehicle rental and the tour guide employment.
