Tibet Tour from Nepal – Sino-Nepal Highway

Sino-Nepal Highway

Some of the tourists would like to take Sino-Nepal Higgway into their consideration when they are thinking about how to go to Tibet from Nepal.

Sino-Nepal Highway refers to the highway between Lhasa (the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region of China) and Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal) which climbs over Himalayas. It connects Chusu, Shigatse, Lhaze, Dingri, Nielamu and Zham in Tibet and stretches along Kodari, Damtari, Balabase and Basecar in Nepal.

Sino-Nepal Highway was completed and put into operation in May, 1967. It is the only international highway in Tibet Autonomous Region so far. It is 943 kilometers long, among which 829 kilometers is in Tibet and the left 114 kilometers is in Nepal. A large number of foreign tourists would like to make their Tibet tour through Sino-Nepal Highway and it is the only opened highway between China and other countries in South Asia in Tibet Autonomous Region so far.

Sino-Nepal Highway starts from Yampachen in Damgxung County in the south and stretches toward Nepal via Shigatse, Lhaze, Tingri, Nielamu and Zham Town and the Friendship Bridge between China and Nepal. Sino-Nepal Highway is a part of No.318 National Highway (Shanghai – Zham Town). The section in the east of Lhasa is also called Sichuan-Tibet Highway.

Zham Port is the only overland port Between Tibet and the countries border on China. It plays important role on the communication between China and Nepal. The Sino-Nepal Highway would stretch into Nepal through the Friendship Bridge between China and Nepal in Zham Port.
