History of Tibet

Tibet has been a part of China since the Yuan dynasty. During the period of Tang, the Tibetan King, Songsten Gampo, married Princess Wen Cheng. The Princess is thought to have brought important influence to Tibet. During the Yuan dynasty, Tibet was a part of the Mongol Empire which was under the charge of Yuan. At that time, the Yuan Government implemented residence registration, levied taxes, and imposed corvee duties in Tibet. “Write Book “of China claims that Ming Dynasty replaced Yuan dynasty and inherited the right to rule Tibet. During the Manchu rule period, the army of Qing entered Tibet to protect them. In 1951, China and the Tibetan Local Government signed a 17-point agreement concerning the peaceful liberation of Tibet. During this time, The 14th Dalai Lama supported this liberation and acknowledged Tibet is a part of China.

And Tibet owns the world’s largest grand canyon, Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, glamorous holy lakes and mountains, mysterious primeval forests, magnificent Potala Palace, unique monasteries, culture and arts of long history, special custom and fantastic and precious plateau wild animals and plants.

Capital of Tibet – Lhasa

Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, means “Holy-Land” in Tibetan language. Lhasa is located along the northern bank of the Lhasa River, a tributary of the Yarlung Zangbo River. Lhasa is a cultural and spiritual city with a history of more than 1,300 years with 3,700 meters high above sea level. It is also known as the solar city due to its abundant sunshine. It is the center for politics, economy, and culture of Tibet as well; it is a city with many world-famous places of interest. Such as Potala Palace, Jokhang Monastery, Barkhor Street and so on.
