As you may know, being a land of ceremony and propriety, China has advocated ceremony and etiquette civilization since ancient times. As a member of the big family of Chinese, Tibetan who lives at the source of rivers and mountains is an ethnic group which stresses ceremony and etiquette. With an environment of simple local traits, being polite and humble, being respectful to elders and caring the youngers and being honesty have been fine customs of the local people since ancient times.

The local landscape and customs at the time when Nyechi Tsampu became the first king of Tubo Dynasty (127 B.C) were described in old Tibetan books found in Dunhuang. "As the heart of the world, (This place) is located at the center of the Earth. It is also the source of all rivers. With such a beautiful landscape, the local people are honest, nice and brave. They enjoy doing good. They bow when showing respect and use honorific form when talking with the senior." Among the old books, a long book on ethics called Questions and Answers of Ceremonies and Etiquette specially talks about the way one gets along with people and the way one conducts oneself in society and managing affairs. Younger brother asks:" in what way one should conduct? And in what way one should not conduct? Elder brother answers: one should conduct himself in the way of justice, amity, gentle, prudent and intelligence. One may enjoy a prosperous life, whose relatives may live peacefully as well if those merits could be done. Partial, brutal, shameless, temperamental, proud and idle, feature the ways one should not conduct, however, miss conduct will degrade oneself." In the "Sixteen Article", set by the King Songtsen Gampo, taking respectable to parents, sincere to friends, being honest to others as the main part, which had affected the formation of Tibetan ethnic etiquettes profoundly.

Tibet, the last unique and pure land in the Earth, is inhabited by cultivated ethic minority groups like Tibetan, Menba, Luoba and etc. They are diligent, brave, wise and modest. Their ancestors had explored Tibet Plateau and jointly made outstanding contributions to Chinese civilization and world civilization. Customs as unique ceremonies, etiquettes, production ways and lifestyles had been formed in the course of long history and development, which displayed the everlasting enchantment and mysterious lure of Tibet.
