The Major Nations in Tibet - Tibetan People

Tibetan people originated from local tribes of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and other tribes of the western Sichuan Province. Tibetan people who live in Tibet region are called Bopa while the ones living in western Sichuan Province are called Kangpa. The Tibetan people who live in Qinghai Province, the southern Gansu Province and the northwestern Sichuan Province are called Andowa. In AD 7th century, the unique Tibetan characters were created by the officials who were asked to learn the characters in India by Songtsen Gampo. After the marriage of Songtsen Gampo and the Princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty, all kinds of classics were introduced into Tibet from Tang Dynasty such as medical books, Buddhist scriptures, the music rhythm classics, the literature books, philosophic theories, astronomical books, math and architecture classics, etc.

Most of Tibetan Buddhists believe in Tibetan Buddhism so that you can see lots of Buddhist symbols in Tibet during the tour. The famous Buddhist monasteries should be Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and Tashilhunpo Monastery, while the famous holy lakes are Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Lake and Mapam Yungtso Lake.

The Major Nations in Tibet - Menpa Nation

Most of Menpa people are living in the southeastern Tibet, while some of them are gathering in Nyingchi Prefecture. According to the general record, there are more than 9000 Menpa people living in Tibet. They write with Tibetan characters because they do not have their own characters. Even though they have original language, most of them speal Tibetan language, too.

The Major Nations in Tibet - Sharpa Nation

The assembly place of Sharpa Nation is mainly gathering in the mountain area over 5000 meters high in Himalaya Mountain Range. Hence, Sharpa people are innate of climbing the mountains. They are also good at dancing and singing and like to dress beautiful colorful national clothes.
