In Shannan, there are various sight spots really worth visiting, such as the first palace in Tibet – Yumbu Lakhang, the first chapel of Tibet – Trandruk Monastery, Tombs of Tibetan Kings, Samye Monastery, etc. The information of transportation to each sight spot will be helpful for your Shannan tour.
The Yumbu Lakhang is 11 kilometers away from south of Tsedang. It is at the altitude of 3700 meters. In your Shannan tour, you can take mini bus which cost is 2 CNY for each person. In addition, there are taxies available which cost is about 20 CNY. After reaching the sight spot, you can climb or ride horse to the mountain top. The rental of horse is 10 CNY per person.
The Trandruk Monastery is located on east bank of Yarlong River, Tsedang. It is 2 kilometers away from Tsedang. The altitude of Trandruk Monastery is 3500 meters.
In the Tsedang town, there is mini bus to the Trandruk Monastery which price is 1 CNY per person. The cost of taxi is 10 CNY. You can visit the Trandruk Monastery on the way back from Yumbu Lakhang because they are on the same route.
The Tombs of Tibetan Kings is 28 kilometers away from Tsedang. It is at the altitude of 3780 meters. In Tsedang, there are many scheduled buses to Qiongjie County at Tsedang Bus Station. The price of bus ticket is 5 CNY per person. In addition, the cost of taxi is 50 CNY.
The Samye Monastery is 42 kilometers away from Tsedang. It is at the altitude of 3580 meters. There are scheduled buses from Tsedang to Samye Monastery. The price of bus ticket is 10 CNY per person. Of course, you also can charter a car. The cost of chartered car is 100 CNY. There is another choice. You can cross the Yarlung Zanpo River from the Samye Ferry. It will take about 90 minutes, and cost 5 CNY. Furthermore, there are special buses from Lhasa Jokhang Temple to Samye Monastery.
The Chim-Puk is 12 kilometers away from Samye Town. It is at the altitude of 4000 meters. You can take bus from Samye Monastery to Chim-puk. The ticket price is 10 CNY. It will take about three hours to walk to the Chim-puk.
The Lamsailing Manor is 30 kilometers away from Tsedang. In Tsedang, there are scheduled buses to Zhanang, Lhasa and Gonggar. You can take these buses from Tsedang and get off at Langsailin Country. Then, walk to the Langsailin Manor. Of course, you also can charter car from Tsedang. The cost of chartered car is about 50 CNY.
If you want to visit the Mindroling Monastery in your Shannan tour, you can take the scheduled bus from Tsedang to Zhanang, Gonggar and Lhasa, and get off at the Mindroling Monastery.
The Yamdrok Lake is located on the border of Nagarze County and Gonggar County. It is 160 kilometers away from Tsedang. When you visit the Yamdrok Lake, you can take the scheduled buses from Lhasa to Nagarze or from Tsedang to Nagarze. The whole journey is about 3 hours. The price of bus ticket is 50 CNY. On the way, you will cross the Gangbala Mountain Pass which is at the altitude of 4860 meters.
