Scenic Spots in Pulan County – Mt. Kailash

Mt. Kailash is located in Baga Village in Northeastern Pulan County, Ngari Prefecture. It is about 140 kilometers away from Pulan County Seat and about 270 kilometers away from Gaer County, the location of the administrative office of Ngari Prefecture. A solemn religious ceremony would be held on April 15th according to the Tibetan calendar in Darchen, a village located at the foot of Mt. Kailash. Tourists join the Tibet trekking tours here will have the chance to experience a holy religious atmosphere and witness the impressive new prayer flags with a height of dozens meters.

With an altitude of 6714 meters, Mt. Kailash is the main peak of Gangdise Mountains which stretch thousands of miles on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Mt. Kailash means Treasured Snow Mountain in Tibetan. It is highly respected as the Center of the World and a Holy Mountain by the followers of Buddhism, Hinduism and Bon all around the world. Continuous devout pilgrims from India, Nepal and different regions in Tibet would come here for pilgrimage between May and October every year. It is said that the lifetime guilty could be swept away if you circumambulate around Mt. Kailash for one circle.

Scenic Spots in Pulan County – Lake Manasarovar

Lake Manasarovar is located in Hoer Village in Northeastern Pulan County. It is about 26 kilometers away from the south of Mt. Kailash, 80 kilometers away from the Pulan County Seat and about 330 kilometers way from the Gaer County.

Lake Manasarovar is an inland fresh water lake. It has an altitude of 4588 meters and covers an area of 412 square kilometers. There are five monasteries with profound Buddhism culture around the lake. It attracts a large number of tourists and pilgrims in the warm season. The perimeter of Lake Manasarovar is about 84 kilometers. It takes about 3 to 5 days to trek around the lake and it takes about a month to kowtow around the lake. There is road for vehicle around the lake and seniors could go around the lake in vehicle.

Scenic Spots in Pulan County – Gurla Mandhata

With an altitude of 7694 meters, Gurla Mandhata has been one of the most attractive sites for tourists interested in the Tibet adventure tours. Located in the south of Lake Manasarovar, Gurla Mandhata always attracts tourists with its magnificent mountain landscape. Though it is not as famous as Mt. Everest, there is also a certain number of tourists would like to pay a visit to Gurla Mandhata Base Camp during their Tibet tour.

Scenic Spots in Pulan County – Kekya Monastery

Kekya Monastery is located in Kekya Village which is about 15 kilometers away from Pulan County Seat. It is an ancient monastery belongs to Sakya Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The Statue of Manjusri Buddisattva is enshrined in the monastery since ancient times. The murals in the monastery have been the most noted treasures in the monastery. Tourists making a Tibet tour to Ngari and pay a visit to Kekya Monastery in June according to Tibetan calendar will have the chance to witness the solemn religious ceremony which attracts a large number of Buddhists from Nepal.
