There are many barrier lakes in southeastern Tibet due to the active and frequent geology movement and Ranwu Lake is the most famous one for it is located by the Sichuan-Tibet Highway – one of the few choices for tourists planning to make a self-driving tour to Tibet.

The Snow Mountains around Ranwu Lake are its main water source, such as the Gangri Gabu Snow Mountain in the southwest, the Agong-la Glacier in the south and the Besura Mountain in the northeast. Ranwu Lake Travel Information – Photographing Tips

Ranwu Lake is located in eastern Tibet and it rains frequently in summer. For tourists especially interested in shooting the picturesque natural landscape of Ranwu Lake, spring and autumn are the best travel seasons. Ranwu Lake attracts a large number of shutterbugs in early spring and late autumn every year. The gorgeous peach blossoms in spring and colorful plants in autumn always make tourists here be reluctant to leave.

Tourists planning a Ranwu Lake tour in summer would find that the water in the lake is always not so clear due to the frequent rain. The snow on the top of the mountains around Ranwu Lake might melt in summer and the lake surface would be iced up in winter. Hence summer and winter are not good seasons for shooting at Ranwu Lake. On the contrary, tourists could always get great pictures at Ranwu Lake in spring and autumn.

The famous Laigu Glacier is located in the north of Ranwu Lake. The tail of the glacier stretches to the lakeside. The melting water of the ice and snow is the main source of Ranwu Lake. The green prairie and crops around the lake, as well as the dense forests make Ranwu Lake looks more charming.
