Hangzhou-Lhasa Flight Information

The Hangzhou-Lhasa flight was officially opened to passengers on Oct.31st, 2012. It provides convenience for tourists planning a Tibet tour from Hangzhou though it will make a short stop in Chengdu. The Hangzhou-Lhasa flight was opened by Sichuan Airline. It takes about 6 hours in total to finish the Hangzhou-Lhasa air journey via Chengdu.

Before the opening of the Hangzhou-Lhasa flight, tourists planning to fly to Lhasa have to choose a connecting flight between Hangzhou and another domestic city before boarding on the direct flight to Lhasa. Tourists were always confused while choosing the flights for it is hard for them to choose two flights whose timetable matches well. There would be large lost for passengers who miss the flight to Lhasa due to the delay of the previous train. In addition, passengers have to pay more in the airport tax and bunker surcharge since they have to take two flights at least. According to passengers fly between Hangzhou and Lhasa frequently, it is more convenient for them since they only have to have one security check in the airport and they don’t have to carry their luggage from one flight to another any more.

The Hanghzou-Lhasa flight operated by Sichuan Airline would departure Hangzhou at 8:05 a.m. and arrive in Chengdu at 10:55 a.m. After one-hour stop in Chengdu, the flight will head to Lhasa at 12:00 and finally arrives in Lhasa at 14:15 p.m. For tourists willing to leave Lhasa for Hangzhou, the Lhasa-Hangzhou flight is also a good choice. Generally, this flight will departure Lhasa for Chengdu at 15:05 and leave Chengdu for Hangzhou at 18:50. It is around 21:10 p.m. when this flight finally land on Hangzhou.

Shanghai-Lhasa flight is the sole flight between Lhasa and the cities at Yangtze River Delta before the opening of the Hangzhou-Lhasa flight. There are only two flights between Shanghai and Lhasa operated by China Easter Airlines and Tibet Airlines. These two flights will make a stop at XiAn and Chongqing respectively. After the opening of the Hangzhou-Lhasa flight, tourists in the Yangtze River Delta Area have one more choice in the transportation to Lhasa.

It is reported that the demand of the Shanghai-Lhasa air tickets greatly exceeds the supply in the peak season of Tibet tour between June and early October. The opening of the Hangzhou-Lhasa flight greatly relieve the air transportation burden between the Yangtze River Delta Area and Lhasa. But there is rare discount in the air tickets to Lhasa in the high season. But tourists making a Tibet tour from Hangzhou in the shoulder season or low season could get certain discount. For tourists willing to cut off their budget, it is a good choice to avoid making a Tibet tour in the high season.

For foreign tourists planning to make a Tibet tour from Hangzhou, it would be a special experience to visit the famous scenic spots in Hangzhou before heading to Lhasa.
