It is like an emerald embedding in the grand mountain. The Manla Reservoir not only provides the "attached" function of sightseeing, it also has the functions of irrigation, generation, water storage and flood control. In your Gyantse tour, you can enjoy the amazing scenery of Manla Reservoir on the way to Gyantse from Lhasa.

Gyantse Tour – Scenery of Manla Reservoir

Among various holy lakes in Tibet, the Manla Reservoir is not very famous. It is even not the lake formed naturally. But, you will be surprised by the green color of Manla Reservoir.

If you start your Gyantse tour from Lhasa, just the scenery on the way from Lhasa to Gyantse via Nagarze County will deeply impress you. When you just leave the beautiful blue Yamdrok Lake, you will come into the white snow world of Karo-la Glacier. When you are still immersing in the white snow world, the green of Manla Reservoir will suddenly appear in front of your eyes. Because of shortage of mysterious legends and large-scale propagation, the Manla Reservoir is just like a beautiful girl in her boudoir and nobody knows her. There are few travelers will notice her beautiful. Hence, this surprise will make you feel astonishing.

Different from the blue of Yamdrok Lake, the water of Manla Reservoir is translucent green without little flaw. It looks like warm and smooth jade, but it is more soft and gentle. To look the Manla Reservoir from far, it is just like beautiful jadeite which left on the wild plateau by fairy.

The green color of the Manla Reservoir may formed by its depth. Zhu Ziqing (famous Chinese writer) also described this green lake in his work. "It is so fresh and smooth, just like a piece of blue sky immersed in it. How amazing green!"
