The Jingar Cave is a naturally formed cave. It is located in the Jingar Viallage of Gyantse County, Shigatse, Tibet. The Jingar Cave is famous for mysterious legends and rich Buddhism atmosphere.
The appearance of the Jingar Cave is like a mound of sharp weapon. The whole shape looks like a quiet sitting Dalaha. The entrance of the cave is about 8 meters wide and about 2 metes high. The depth of this cave is over 40 meters. From up to down, there are naturally formed six practice caves of Padmasambhava, Namlang and Duoji Duijiong and over 80 vivid images of Milarepa, 16 Arhats, elephant, scorpion, dragon, snake, moon and sun etc.
According to legend, the area of Garxi Village was a lake. The mountains around the lake were prosperous forest with many wild animals. Hence, human being almost can not survive there. In order to propagate Buddhism beliefs and emancipate human being, the Padmasambhava (in 8th century) used a magical sword to blast mountains, kill monsters and drive off evil spirits. Then, the present terrain and landform formed. Hence, there are many naturally formed footprints of Padmasambhava, Danzheng Dharma, Tancheng Pictures, Iron Wall, ganjur and ganjur nomun on the mountains around the Jingar Cave.
In the Jingar Cave, after stepping over 21 stairs, with the help of the string in the mouth of roegdaihboengz, passing by the Punishment Hall and short and long passages, you can drink the blessed holy water of Padmasambhava and Vajrapani Bodhisattva and the macrobian water of Amitayus Buddha. In the hall of Padmasambhava, there are naturally formed stone boots of Padmasambhava and the footprints of Dakini Con Juyasitoga at the age of eight.
