There are many attractions and highlights in Tibet winter, which are not usually thought about by people. Travel to Tibet in winter becomes more and more popular because of its lower price, relaxing traffic and quieter environment.

The best time to have a Tibet tour is from May to October, what about the other time? Actually, due to the location, Lhasa weather and climate are good for traveling to Tibet all year around. Besides, the Shigatse and some other places of Tibet are also the good chosen.

Known for the hometown of Panchen Lama, Shigatse is the second larger city of Tibet and 355 kilometers away from Lhasa City. It situated in the southwest bank of the confluence of Yarlung Zangbo River and Chu River. It is 3900 meters high.

Shigatse means the best terrene manor in Tibetan. There is much more sunlight than Lhasa City. It is not only the place living by Panchen but also the business and traffic center of agriculture products of southwestern Tibet. There are full of famous monasteries in Shigatse such as Tashilhunpo Monastery, Sakya Monatery, Palkhor Monastery and Shalu Monastery. Tourists are possible to experience Tibet Buddhism culture and Tibetan's daily life there.

Have a look at Tashilhunpo Monastery from far away it consists of lots of temples. Tashilhunpo Monastery is surrounded by the walls and it covers an area of 3 Huali (1 Huali= 500 meters). The main attractions of Tashilhunpo Monastery include Cuoqin Hall, Spirit Hall of 10th Panchen, Qiangba Buddhism Hall and so on.

There is a huge ladder about tens of meters high. It is very clean. Many believers come here prostrate themselves in worship.

Old Town in Shigatse in Tibet Winter

The old town of Shigatse is built upright and foursquare. There are few houses in Tibetan style. Besides, there are some dogs in Shigatse, because Tibetans think all of the lives in nature are equal.
