Deqyen County is located at the east longitude 98°3'56"-99°32'20" and north latitude 27°33'44"-29°15'2". It lies in the northwest part of Hengduan Mountain Range of Yunnan Province and the south edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It connects to Sichuan Province, Tibet Region and Yunnan Province. In the north it back against Mangkang County of Tibet. In the west, it adjoins Zuogong County and Chayu County in Tibet. In the south, it adjoins Weixi County. In the east it adjoins Batang County and Derong County. It covers an area of 7273 square kilometers. Shengping Town is the center of Deqyen County. It is approximately 3400 meters high and about 182 kilometers far from Zhongdian County of Yunnan Province. It is about 889 kilometers far from Kunming City.
