2013 Ruin of Guge Kingdom Itinerary – Zhada Soil Forest Landscape

D6 Lake Manasarovar – Zhada

Along the way you will rush into the wild animals' garden and have a great unforgettable visual feast. There are a large number of wild yaks, Tibetan antelope, Mongolian gazelle and Tibetan kiangs and so on, from Lake Manasarovar to Zhada County. Besides, the beautiful high snow peaks, grand mountains, risk and steep cliffs, dangerous and strange rocks, pure and blue lakes, vast and wild highland grasslands, etc, will be greatly appreciated by you during Tibet tour and leave us deep impression.

Zhada County is located in the south of the highway in Shangquan River Valley area, about 255 kilometers far from the Lion Spring River. Zhada County is well known for the wonderful soil forest landscape area in Tibet. Actually, the soil forest landscape was formed and influenced by the orogenic movement in ancient times. The depositional stratum at the bottom of the lake was incised by the running water for long term, and gradually became weathering and denudation. Finally, the depositional stratum formed a special and particular landform. That is the soil forest landscape. The soil forest landscape composes of the thick high trees in different shapes. The height difference of the trees in the soil forest is about 10 meters high. When you personally drive into the soil forest, you may feel driving around the sole of the foot of the giant. That's interesting enough but also amazing, right?

Tip: After finishing our itinerary today, we will get back to Zhada County again. Hereby, you do not need to take excessive baggage, but the value stuff with you along the way.

D7 Zhada County – Zhada Soil Forest - Ruin of Guge Kingdom

Zhada Soil Forest Scenic Spot is the most noted scenic spot in Zhada County. Actually, Zhada Soil Forest was formed by the combined action of Himalayan orogeny movement and the river water erosion in ancient times. The trees and the piles of the soil are renowned as the ancient castles, high watchtowers, unique Tibetan tent in different shapes, and attractive palaces with many floors, etc. The sunset glow and the sunrise glow are both amazing and charming. If you were sitting there in the evening, tell me does it like sitting in the mythological world. At least, most of tourists and local Tibetans tell me the same feeling like that.

The history of the Ruin of Guge Kingdom could be dated back to AD 10th century. Ruin of Guge Kingdom was originally constructed by the later generation of Tubo royal family of Tubo Dynasty. It covers an area of 183 square meters, once acted as the largest and strongest kingdom of Tibet. It has been disappeared suddenly, and we do not figure the reasons out of it as of now.

There are monasteries, palaces, blind passes, caves, shrines, castles and civilian buildings in this ancient cultural site. The architectures at the Ruin of the Guge Kingdom are of high value in painting, clay sculpture, carving and some other arts. Tourists pay a visit here are always reluctant to leave for its mysterious atmosphere.

Tips: Ruin of the Guge Kingdom is the essential attraction today. You will have a chance to witness the prosperous history of this ancient kingdom, ever.
