D13 Lhasa - Namtso Lake

After breakfast, we will go ahead to Namtso Lake and appreciate the Northern Tibet highland grassland, Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain, Tashi peninsula and Qinghai-Tibet Highway along the way. Namtso Lake is one of the top 3 sacred lakes of Tibet.

Today you will have very flexible and relaxing sunny time to enjoy the unbelievable beautiful lake scenery there, with lazy yaks and friend people. The quiet but romantic sunset scenery of Namtso Lake should be highly recommended to you. You can have your time enjoy there.

Namtso Lake lies in the middle part of Tibet region and well known as the second larger salt water lake of China. Namtso Lake is also the highest large lake of the world.

D14 Namtso Lake – Yampachen – Lhasa City

In the morning, we kindly suggest you to get up early if it is possible for you, because the amazing sunrise scenery already surprised lots of tourists already. You can't miss it. We will trek to Tashi Peninsula after we appreciate the amazing sunrise landscape of Namtso Lake in the morning. There are two monasteries on the peninsula. The Statues of Master Padmasambhawa are enshrined in the monasteries. We can also step on the viewing deck to enjoy the landscape of Namtso Lake from a different angle.

And then, we will drive you to Yampachen Terrestrial Heat Scenic Spot. You can enjoy the outdoor hot spring there on your own (98RMB/per person of enjoying hot spring is excluding). There are many different types of springs surrounded by the flying prayer flags. Afterward, go back to Lhasa City.

D15 Drepung Monastery – Tibet Museum – Norbulingka – Sera Monastery

We will make a visit to Drepung Monastery in the morning. It is the largest monastery in the world and one of the three great monasteries of Gelug Sect (Yellow Sect) of Tibet Buddhism. It was originally built by the disciple of Tsongkhapa – the great master of Tibet Buddhism and the founder of Gelug Sect in AD 1416. There were more than 10000 Buddhists in the monastery during the period of the prosperity. And then we will visit the Tibet Museum, where we could learn the history and culture of Tibet.

In the afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery – one of the three great monasteries in Lhasa which is noted for its Buddhism scripture debating. Sera means wild rose in Tibetan. It was constructed by a famous disciple of Tsongkhapa in 1419. It is situated at the foot of a mountain in the suburb of Lhasa City and acted as one of the top 3 monasteries of Gelug Sect in Tibet Buddhism history. The other two honorable monasteries of Tibet is Drepung Monastery and Gandan Monastery. It is the latest monastery among the top 3 monasteries.

The monastery covers an area of 0.11 million square meters in Lhasa City. Then we will tour to Norbulingka – the summer palace of Dalai Lamas. It was constructed in 1740s and covers an area of 0.36 square meters after more than 200 years expansion. It is the largest artificial garden in Tibet with beautiful landscapes and rich historical relics.
