Qinghai-Tibet Railway was officially opened on July 1st, 2006. It leads to Lhasa from Xining across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with high altitude and severe natural environment. It is reported that the Tibet train is quite different from the ordinary trains running on the plains. 5 Characteristics of Tibet Train – Less Passengers

It is reported that the fixed number of passengers in each cabin on the Tibet train is lesser than that of the ordinary trains. The fixed number of passengers in the hard seat cabin of Tibet train is 98 while the fixed number of passengers in the hard cabin of an ordinary train is 118. The fixed number of passengers in the hard sleeper cabin of Tibet train is 60 while the fixed number of passengers in the hard sleeper cabin in an ordinary train is 64. In addition, the fixed number of passengers in the soft sleeper cabin of Tibet train is only 32 and it is also lesser than that of the ordinary train. Smaller capacity of each cabin was for the consideration of passengers, according to the experts.

5 Characteristics of Tibet Train – Zero Sewage Release

There is a high demand of environmental protection along Qinghai-Tibet Railway for the ecological environment on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is pretty weak. The designers of Tibet train adopted new design in the related system on the train aims at realizing the Zero Sewage Release. All the sewage produced on the ordinary train would be discharged from the train directly. Tibet train is equipped with vacuum type dejecttas collecting device and all the sewage produced on the train would be collected into the trash bin at the bottom of the train. The capacity of the trash bin could store the sewage produced on the Tibet train in 42 hours without release.

Tibet train enjoys a much bigger window compares to the ordinary trains. It is said that the bigger window was especially designed to provide tourists better view. The fascinating natural scenery along Qinghai-Tibet Railway really enjoys high reputation among tourists. For the resistance of the strong ultraviolet on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the double-glazing of Tibet train window was equipped with anti-UV pad pasting. The transmittance of the ultraviolet would not be higher than 13.3 percent. The anti-UV window on Tibet train could get passengers protected from the strong ultraviolet on Tibet Plateau.

5 Characteristics of Tibet Train – Oxygen Supply Device

For tourists come to Tibet Plateau the first time, the oxygen supply is quite necessary. Hence, the oxygen supply device would be put into operation when the train arrives in the plateau with an altitude of more than 2000 meters. There are two types of oxygen supply devices on Tibet train. The first one is the diffuse type oxygen supply device which makes the oxygen content in each cabin reaches 23.5 percent through the mix of the air in the air conditioning system. The second one is the distributed oxygen supply device – passengers could help yourself to the oxygen up-taking straw near your seat if you need more oxygen.

For the intensification of the sealability of Tibet train, the equipment compartment was set up at the bottom of the train. This design could better protect the equipments of the train from the sand blown and snow storm. The air conditioning devices at the roof of the Tibet train also adopted the special sand-filter equipments. The airtight type steel-work train body and sealed wind shield also improved the sealability of the Tibet train.
