Tibet received more than 10 million tourists in 2012

The number of tourists visited Tibet firstly breaks through 10 million in 2012 according to the statistics provided by Tibet Tourism Bureau. The experts hold that 10 million is a critical point which indicates that Tibet tourism is entering in a sustainable development period.

It is reported that Tibet received 10.34 million tourists both at home and abroad between January and November. The total number has increased 22.6 percent compared to the same period of last year. The total tourism revenue of Tibet Autonomous Region reached 12.4 billion RMB and that has increased 33.9 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The total number of visitors of Tibet breaks through 10 million successfully is mainly profit from several factors according to a professional inspector of Tibet Tourism Bureau. The first factor is the tourism destination image "roof of the world, mysterious Tibet" of Tibet catches a lot of attraction successfully due to a series of advertisement on the media. The second factor is the obvious improvement of the basic facilities in the scenic area and also the service quality. Besides, the increase of the frequency of the Tibet flights, as well as the operation of the special trains to Tibet made it more convenient to go to Tibet than ever.
