A large-scale self-driving interview & investigation team – Knight Tour Delegation arrived at Mt. Everest Base Camp (with an elevation of 5200 meters) safely and did some research activity at the highest spot of their investigation trip successfully in September. To further explore the environment condition of Mt. Everest, the delegation did certain sample collection regarding the melt water of the glaciers at the northern slop of Mt. Everest. The delegation also interviewed the scientists at the Mt. Everest Observation Station of Chinese Academy of Science.

The Knight Observation Delegation was planned to research deeper into the environment, ecology and culture around Mt. Everest and appeal the public to pay attention to Mt. Everest culture and support the environmental protection. Except for the Mt. Everest Base Camp, the delegation also visited the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Yumtso, Karo-la Glacier and some other famous spots in Tibet.

The Knight Observation Delegation also cited the highest monastery above the sea level – Rongbuk Monastery. The ancient monastery could be dated back to 1899. The old Rongbuk Monastery is closer to Mt. Everest and the historical relics related to Master Padmasambhava still exist here. The new Rongbuk Monastery was constructed in 1902. It is not only acted as the center of the Buddhism culture at Mt. Everest area but also an important part of the mountaineering culture of Mt. Everest. Most of the tourists and mountaineers came here would spend one night at Rongbuk Monastery Guesthouse or camp near the monastery. Hence, the Knight Observation Delegation also collected some precious documents regarding Mt. Everest culture in the monastery.

Tourists planning a Tibet tour and willing to make a visit to Mt. Everest Base Camp are not advised to realize the tour in winter in the consideration of the severe cold weather condition. It is said the April, May, September and October are the best seasons to visit E.B.C since tourists might have the chance to see the real appearance of Mt. Everest for the high visibility. Enough preparation is quite necessary for dealing with the high altitude at E.B.C. The accommodation condition at Rongbuk Monastery is quite limited; tourists are highly advised to prepare a personal sleeping bag in advance. Some of the tourists would like to visit E.B.C from Xeger and back to Xegar in late afternoon while the others hold that it is of great significance to spend a night at E.B.C to enjoy the sunset and sunrise in a good weather condition.
