Entrance Ticket of Potala Palace need to be Ordered in Advance in Peak Season

Tourists make a Tibet tour are required to order the entrance ticket of Potala Palace at the Western Gate in advance between May 1st and Oct.30th according to the administrative office of Potala Palace. It is reported that Potala Palace received nearly 6000 tourists during the Chinese Labor Day. Potala Palace will welcome its peak season with the coming of June.

According to the staff of the administrative office of Potala Palace, tourists who want to make a visit to Potala Palace are required to order the entrance ticket one day in advance. The order service would be available between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00p.m. There is no extra fee while booking the ticket. ID, passport and other valid documentation should be provided while booking.

To prevent tickets scalping, tourists are required to provide identity document while booking the ticket. If the information on the ID is inconsistent with the ticket buyer, the ticket booking would not be approved. Besides, the driving license could also be looked as the valid certification for ticket booking. It should be noted that original copy of these valid certification should be provided while booking the ticket, or the booking service would not be approved.

It is reported that there were about 6000 tourists entered Potala Palace during the China LaborDay vacation. For the protection of Potala Palace, the administrative office decided to limit the visitors enter into Potala Palace under 4000 each day during the peak season. During the peak season this year, Potala Palace will extend the opening hours. It will be opened from 7:30a.m. to 16:30p.m.
