Tibet History in Late Qing Dynasty – Chinese Modern History

Chinese modern history developed after the Opium War happened in 1840. During the time of Opium War China has gradually fallen into real semi-colonial and semi-feudal society by the invasion of imperialist powers. Qing Dynasty government compromised and conceded while people struggled with western imperial power, which formed the history the same as Tibet modern history.

The 2nd regent Molin Living Buddha was accused by the 7th Panchen Lama in 1944 because of the accusation of bribes bribery and blackmail, besides the charges of killing the 9th Dalai Lama and 10th Dalai Lama, and maltreating the 11th Dalai Lama. Qing Dynasty government sent the official Keshen, who was the main character surrendering to Britain during the Opium War to dispose the case. Keshen asked the 7th Panchen Lama to be the regent who resigned after 7 months and the 9th RetingLiving Buddha was appointed for.

Tibet History in Late Qing Dynasty – Chaos of Tibet Region

Afterwards, the contradictory relation between monks and officials exists all the time in Tibet region. Dimu Living Buddha was accused in 1855 by 9th Reting Living Buddha, Kalon Shatra and other people as the charge of relationship with ladies.

Tibet local government signed an agreement which infringed upon the interests of Tibet with Nepal with the help of Britain during the second invasion by Nepal in 1856 when Qing Dynasty's government repressed the movement of the Taiping rebellion. After that, Reting Living Buddha have occurred strife with Kalon Shatra who was banished finally. In the year of 1856 and 1858, the 8th Panchen Lama and 12th Dalai Lama have been confirmed respectively.

In 1862, Reting Living Buddha fled to Beijing for the rebellion of monks of Ganden Monastery and Drepung Monastery with the favoritism of Tibet officials, and then died in 1863 without any solution of this event while Kalon Shatra died in 1864. Thus one of the famous Buddhists has been designated for the regent as the Dezu Living Buddha who has been compelled to quit in turmoil in 1871. After the death of regent Dezu Living Buddha in 1872 and the 12th Dalai Lama three months later, the 13th Dalai Lama has been confirmed in 1876 and the 9th Panchen Lama has been confirmed in 1888. Dimu Living Buddha died in the prison in 1899 and not be allowed to find his reincarnation.
