Tibetan Drinks - Production Method of Sweet Tea

Many tourists do not accustomed to drinking buttered tea in Tibet. Not all Tibetan drinks disagree with tourists; sweet tea is one of the Tibetan drinks which tourists like to drink very much. Some tourists even want to learn the production method of making sweet tea, so that they could drink the delicious tea after they leave Tibet.

The Tastes of the Sweet Tea

Tourists do not get used to the taste of buttered tea probably agree with sweet tea in Tibet. the sweet tea in Lhasa is famous. Many tourists have deep impression on the sweet tea and hope to make by themselves so that they can drink after leaving Lhasa. The major raw materials of sweet tea are black tea and milk or milk powder, right amount of white sugar should be added as flavoring. In diverse sweet tea houses, the brands of raw material may be different. Even using the completely the same raw material, the taste may be different made by different people. What the sweet tea taste mainly determined by the experience of the producer. The best taste of sweet tea for the public is neither too sweet nor too strong of the tea flavor.

Production Method of Sweet Tea

The first step - boil black tea

Put about 200g black tea leafs into the special cloth bag and then put the bag into the boiled water and cook for about five minutes. Stir the cloth bag in the water while cooking. After five minutes, wiping the cloth bag and throw the residue away.

The second step - put in milk or milk powder

Put in 2 kilograms milk powder of milk to the blender, and then add the boiled black tea in. after stirring, pour them into the pot. Pay attention that a lot of foam occurs when adding milk powder, just stir it continuously then the foam will turn less.

The third step - put in white sugar

Put in about 0.6 kilograms white sugar and stir them evenly. Boil them up or people will feel upset on stomach.

The fourth step - boil black tea again

This time, use 100g black tea and boil them for about five minutes.

The fifth step - pour the black tea into the pot

Put the boiled black tea into the pot or thermos bottle, so that you can pour some out to drink whenever you want.
