Barley Wine

Barley wine is named "Qiang" in Tibetan language. It is made up from the main grain in highland – barley. It is the most popular wine in Tibet, and necessary thing in festivals, wedding, kids birth ceremony, welcome or see off customers.

Basic Information of Barley Wine

The producing region of barley wine: mainly distribute in Qinghai Province, Tibet, Yunnan Province, Gansu and so on.

Features of barley wine: after drinking, your mouth will not feel dry and easy to weak up. It is suitable for females and males.

Unique Features of Barley Wine (Difference from common wine):

1. The main material is highland barley.

2. The brewing environment is in highland climate.

3. The water for brewing is from snow mountain, or natural mineral water.

4. The wine culture is different: barley wine, butter tea and Hada are the typical representatives of Tibet culture.

Brief Introduction of Barley Wine

There is no complex process of making barley wine. In Tibet, almost every family can make barley wine. Before brewing, should pick out high grade barley, wash it and steep it in water for a night. Then, cook it for two hours and dry the cooked barley. After drying, put some ferment flour into it can mix it. At last, put it into jar and airproof it. If the temperature is high, it can be taken out to drink for one or two days.

Nutrient Value of Barley Wine

1. Barley is the crop which with highest glucan in the world: the amount of glucan is four times of wheat. It is useful for preventing carcinoma of colon, cardiovascular and cerebral diseases and diabetes. At the same time, it is effective for improving human immunity, adjusting the biological rhythm.

2. It contains rich dietary fiber: the dietary fiber amount of barley is fifteen times of wheat. It is effective for moistening intestines and relieving constipation.

3. It contains unique amylopectin: the amount of amylopectin is over 26 percents than the common amylopectin. It can inhibit acid stomach, and can relieve and protect the disease symptoms.

4. It contains rare nutrient content: it contains aneurine, riboflavin, nicotinic acid and vitamin E which can promote human health and development.

5. It contains trace element which is beneficial for human body: calcium, phosphorus, ferrum, cuprum, zinc, selenium and other mineral elements. Selenium is necessary element of human body which has been ensured by WHO and the only ensured element which can prevent and resist cancer.
