Tibet Worshipping Festival

Worshipping Festival, which would be celebrated on June 4th according to the Tibetan calendar, is an important religious festival on the Tibet festival calendar. It is recorded that Sakyamuni dictated the four important scripture doctrines of Tibetan Buddhism on June 4th. Later, local Tibetans take June 4th as the Worshipping Festival in honor of Sakyamuni.

Tibet Festival Calendar – Brief Introduction of Worshipping Festival

On June 4th according to the Tibetan calendar, local Tibetans would do some religious activities to show their respect to the Buddha. They would go to the monasteries to chant the Buddhism scriptures with the Buddhists and also light up the butter lanterns in the monasteries. Tourists travel to Tibet during the celebration of the Worshipping Festival would find that it is really a festival rich in religious atmosphere on the Tibet festival calendar.

To celebrate the important Buddhism related Tibet festival, local Tibetans would dressed themselves up on June 4th. They would bring some special food especially prepared for the worshipping to the monasteries and holy mountains. Worshipping has been one of the most important ways for the followers of Tibetan Buddhism to ask for blessings from the Buddha. Worshipping Festival is also a religious festival especially in honor of Sakyamuni on Tibet festival calendar. On this day, Sakyamuni presented his first sermon and made Tibetan Buddhism widely spread since then. The Tibetans would share the delicious food sing and dance with their family members and friends on the lawn and would not back to the city till the nightfall.

Tibet Festival Calendar – Celebration of Worshipping Festival

Worshipping Festival is not only a solemn religious festival but also a festival full of interests for the Tibetan children. According to the legend, the fairies would come to the mountain to observe the world on June 4th. Hence, local Tibetans hold that make circumambulation around the mountain, burn some incenses, hang some payer flags and sacrifice some offerings on the Worshipping Festival would be the best respect to the Buddha and the fairies. If we do all the religious activities devoutly, the Buddha would bless longevity for the aged and capability for the children. So the Worshipping Festival on the Tibet festival calendar is really an important festival for local Tibetans.

During the worshipping, people should respect certain traditions. People should be devout and be kind, should not sigh, call names or defloration. The circumambulation and worshipping would be in vain if you don't respect the traditions or violate the taboos. All the pilgrimages would display their offerings and hold a series of religious activities on the top of the mountains and then spend a relaxing and pleasant time with their family members.
