Weather in Lhasa – the Summer

Update: Apr. 25th, 2012

weather in Lhasa

The weather in Lhasa is attractive to tourists as the temperature of Lhasa in summer is not high and the oxygen content in summer is the richest of the year. The scenery is gorgeous and colorful.

Weather in Lhasa - Sunshine in Summer

Lhasa is a wonderful summer resort except the strong solar radiation. But how could you taste the splendid culture and touch the soul of the city if you do not throw yourself in the fierce sunshine of the “sun city”?
As the sun goes down in the late afternoon, the Potala Palace in the light of the sunset looks powerful, classic, dignified, holy and pure. Looking at the setting sun, taking a sip of tea, you will get to understand something. To worship the Potala Palace is to worship the sunshine, as all the worship in the world is for happiness and bright future.

Weather in Lhasa –Colors of Summer

Walking on the streets in Lhasa in summer, you will get drunk in the bright and intense colors. Transparent blue is the background color of the ancient city’s sky. The clouds and the elegant hada (a piece of silk used as a greeting gift) are holy and pure white. The outer wall of the temple and the dress and personal adornment of the monks are mysterious red. The glare of the Potala Palace’s golden top is unrestrained yellow. The towering trees in Norbulingka are vital green. Under the sunshine in Lhasa, every color is bright, clean and distinct without any gloomy or ambiguity.

Weather in Lhasa –Landscape in Summer

In summer, the white coats of mountains are taken off after the melt of the snow and ice. The surface of the stones and the mount’s barren bodies are exposed and the mountain massif wrinkles. After having a further looking at the naked mountain, you will feel it is the most beautiful mountain in the world. The skin once eroded by the seawater, shows a natural rough beauty. While crossing the Lhasa River by car, a Chinese ink and wash painting depicted with delicacy spreads out before you. Clean rivers flow peacefully and you can even see fishes swim freely in the river bottom as the water is crystal clear. Some water birds pass over gently and swiftly from time to time. The river channel full of sunshine is like a dazzling jade belt which is inlaid in the waist of the ancient city.
