Brief Introduction of State Highway G318

The construction of State Highway G318 was started in 1993 and completed in 1996. It stretches 5476 kilometers in total from Shanghai in the east to the Friendship Bridge between China and Nepal in Tibet in the west. State Highway G318 spans cross several cities and provinces in China, including Shanghai City, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, Hubei Province, Chongqing City, Sichuan Province and Tibet Autonomous Region. Tourists making a self-driving tour along this highway will have the chance to witness a series of noted natural scenic spots, such as the Qiantang River and West Lake in Zhejiang Province, Taihu Lake in Jiangsu Province and Huangshan Mountain in Anhui Province.

Tourists planning a self-driving tour along the State Highway G318 should note that not all the sections of this highway are asphalt. Some of the sections are only graveled and the road section would be even worse during the rainy season. It is necessary to have your vehicle checked or repaired at the rest stations along State Highway G318.

The State Highway G318 stretches in the mountain areas, tourists making a self-drizing tour have to climb over several dangerous mountain passes with high elevation, including the Quer Mountain Pass with an altotud of 4916 meters and Mira Mountain Pass with an altitude of 5013 meters. Besides, there are numerous challenging bends along the State Highway G318. Tourists are required to drive carefully the whole journey.
