Lhagyari Manor

The Lhagyari Manor faces to river valley on north side. It looks like placed on the mountain top from afar. The architectural complex of Lhagyari Manor is located in Xiajiang Village. It is at the altitude of 3880 meters. The existent architectures of Lhagyari Manor include the old Palace "Tashi Architectural Complex", New Palace "Ganden Lhatse" and summer palace.

The floor area of Lhagyari Manor is about 5000 square meters, including Eastern Building and Western Building which connected by a paved path on the ground floor. The building was five floors high. But the existent is only three floors. It is the main living place of members of royal family, as well as important place to handle affairs.

The architecture of Lhagyari Manor is an important category of Tibetan ancient architectures. The completed protected architectures of Lhagyari are rarely seen. The palace architectures of Lhagyari Manor basically protect its original layout and architectural structure. It is valuable in the category of Tibetan ancient royal palace. As Tibetan style palace architecture, the architecture of Lhagyari Manor integrated some architecture characteristics of Han nationality. Consequently, it is valuable for research.

Lhagyari Manor – "Tashi Architectural Complex"

The Tashi Architectural Complex is about 180 meters away from west of New Palace of Ganden. It is a little lower than the New Palace. The palace is surrounded by stone walls. The existent is east and south walls and the part of west wall.

This architecture was with doorways on north and south sides. The south doorway was with two gates. The first gate is outside the wall. It is 6 meters wide, with several stone stairs leading to the gate. The second gate is on the south wall, with over ten meters long passage leading to the gate. The architectures in the wall almost were destroyed or changed to folk residences. So, it is hard to see the layout and shape of these architectures.

Lhagyari Manor – "Ganden Lhatse"

Ganden Lhatse is the main part of the existent part of Lhagyari Manor. The Ganden Lhatse, located on northeast of the whole architectural complex, consists of palace, storehouse, Lakhang, square, horse stable and other architectural units. This architectural complex faces with river valley on northern side, with an artificial entrenchment on eastern side. The whole architectural complex is 120 meters long from south to north and 130 meters wide from east to west. It covers about 160,000 square meters.

Lhagyari Manor – Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is located in the Norbu Lingka (present County Administration Yard) which is about 1000 meters away from northeast of Ganden Lhatse. It faces to Jiangzha Pujiu River on north side, and relies on precipice on south side. It is at the altitude of 3840 meters.

The original architectures include palace wall, bathing pool, palace, etc. The Summer Palace was the place to spend summer for Lhagyari Royal Family. The existent part is only a small palace.

The existent palace is a courtyard style palace. The palace is located on north and faces to south.
