Kunlun Mountain
Kunlun Mountain is the symbol of Chinese nation and the cradle of Chinese myths. The Kunlun Mountain starts from the east of Pamir Plateau on west side, and stretches to the valley of upstream of Qaidam River on east side. It connects with Bayan Har Mountains and Anye Maqen Mountain, and near to Tarim Basin and Qaidam Basin on north side. The Kunlun Mountain is over 2500 kilometers long and 130 kilometers to 200 kilometers wide. The average altitude of the Kunlun Mountain is 5500 meters to 6000 meters. The whole Kunlun Mountain covers over 500,000 square meters.
The Kunlun Spring is the largest ice-free spring on Kunlun Mountain which water temperature is keep at 20 degree. The water of Kunlun Spring is in good quality and inexhaustible.
The first railway bridge on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the Sanchahe Bridge. It can be regarded as classical work of Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The silver bridge over the mountain valley looks like a holy Hada under the blue sky. The railway bridge is 690.19 meters long, with 20 piers.
In the long history of China, there are various legends about grand Kunlun Mountain. The well know Goddess Chang's Fly to the Moon, Pilgrimage to the West and Legend of the White Snake are related with Kunlun Mountain. Hence, the Kunlun Mountain also become the cradle of Chinese myths.
The Kunlun Mountain is praised as "ancestor of mountains" in Chinese history. It is the birthplace of Taoism in end of Ming Dynasty and the first holy mountain of China. The Kunlun Mountain Taoism culture is the ancient part of Chinese national culture. Hence, the Kunlun Mountain is famous as "the palace of emperor on earth and the collecting place of gods".
