How to Acclimatize to Avoid Acute Mountain Sickness in Tibet Plateau

Qing – Tibet Railway starts operating, more and more people from all over the world come to visit Tibet plateau. Due to the special geographic location, higher altitude, thin air, lower air pressure and oxygen will affect people and make them suffer Acute Mountain Sickness.

If we ascend to high mountains or high altitude plateau, how can we adjust and save our lives? What the signs and symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness are? How can we acclimatize high altitude to avoid Acute Mountain Sickness?

Acute Mountain Sickness Introduction

It is high altitude in Qing – Tibet Plateau with lower thin air and absence of oxygen, some tourist from the lower altitude can not acclimatize the environment may suffer a series of signs and symptoms even diseases.

The signs and symptoms of absence of oxygen mainly include bad headache, dizziness very exhausted at every moment, nausea and vomiting, abnormal pant/breath and heartbeat, loss of appetite, choking sensation in chest, chest pain, slight face edema, and chapped lips. The severe signs and symptoms of absence of oxygen include increasing blood pressure, faster heartbeat and even coma. Some people will suffer abnormal exciting, drunkenness, unsteady gait, hallucination and insomnia.

How to Acclimatize Altitude to Avoid Acute Mountain Sickness

1. Keep optimistic mind and get to know the issue of absence of oxygen. Nervous will make the heartbeat faster and worse symptoms of lack of oxygen.

2. Whatever the specific way you enter to Tibet, you should take a rest at the first day. It assures that your body is given time to acclimatize the high altitude to avoid the Acute Mountain Sickness. You are kindly suggested to keep sitting position or semi-reclining position to assure your smooth breath.

3. Take some deeply breath to help pulmonary alveoli absorb oxygen.

4. Food with high carbohydrate and much vitamin are easily digested and absorbed to people. Do not eat too much because it will aggravate heart burden. Do not drink excess of water because it will aggravate the symptoms of absence of oxygen.

5. Take some medicines according to persona physical condition.

6. If people who still feel bad after taking some medicines should be treated by oxygen uptake according to doctor's suggestions.
