Kangma County

Kangma County is located in eastern Shigatse, southern Tibet. It is about 140 kilometers away from Shigatse. Kangma County is border to Yatong County, Bailang County and Gyantse County, also border to Bhutan Kingdom. The boundary line in Kangma County is about 78 kilometers.

Kangma County - Climate

Kangma County is located in northern Himalaya Mountain Range with the average elevation of 4300 meters. The lowest village in Kangma County is about 4100 meters, while the highest one is about 4500 meters.

Kangma County features the southern terrain of Qinghai - Tibet plateau belong to Yarlung Zangbo River valley geography. Kangma County area is higher in west and east parts than the middle part, which the fall difference is 300-400 meters. The mean annual precipitation is about 300mm, the sunlight duration in a year are about 3200 hours, the frostless duration are about 110 days. The mean annual temperature is about 4? with the strong wind in winter and spring.

Kangma County - Local Product

Tibetan carpet is famous in China, which mainly features 3 different kinds of materials. One is made by woolen knitting wool of yak, featuring colorful design and soft feeling. One is made by thin knitting wool of sheet with simple design. Another one is carpet pad fill in deer hair, highland barley and dry grass.

Kangma Carpet is one of the most famous Tibetan carpet, which is the traditional local product in Kangma County.

Kangma County - Religion

There are many monasteries worshiped in Kangma County, which include 22 Gelug monasteries, Nyingma Sect monasteries, Kargyu Sect monasteries, Sakya monasteries and Bon monasteries.

Kangma County - History

Kangma County is border to Bhutan Kingdom so that the small business market is developing in Kangma County.

There are five mountain pass from Kangma County to Bhutan Kingdom, Wochela mountain pass, Yala mountain pass, Pangchala mountain pass, Jiasangangla mountain pass, and Kangla mountain pass, which Wochela mountain pass and Yala mountain pass are allowed to pass through all year around, the other three are only availabe in summer and autumn.

Kangma County - Attraction

Kangma County features numerous small Buddhism monasteries, such as Naining Monastery, Zangtsa Monastery, Aiwong Monastery, Chama Monastery, Ganden Kyulin Monastery, and Monkon Lakong Monastery.
